Schools seek to curb chronic absenteeism
School districts nationwide report an uptick in chronic absenteeism, which reached 25% among ninth- and 10th-grade students in California. To ensure students are on track, administrators in some districts are working to strengthen connections for students, including at Murray County High School in Georgia, where every incoming ninth-grader is connected with a counselor and a social worker.
