Phonics reading school curriculum

Students at Highland Elementary School in Columbus, Kan., continue to struggle with their reading skills, despite a relatively shorter period of remote instruction and efforts of teachers to help them recover from learning gaps. One third-grade teacher arranged reading partners, providing one-on-one writing assistance, and asking questions aloud, but students continue to struggle as assessments show 13 of 24 students are reading below grade level.
