In the AI age, it’s time to change how we teach and grade writing

History teacher Matthew Fulford has adapted his essay assignments to adjust to student accessibility to AI writing tools, such as ChatGPT. Fulford now breaks his essay assignments into parts – research, writing, documentation – and grades each separately to reward students’ problem solving and creative efforts.
