‘My biggest challenge and my biggest fear:’ Teaching kids how to read remotely during the pandemic

Teaching students to read has always been a challenge, but educators say teaching the skill remotely presents additional obstacles. Matt Cooper Borkenhagen, a language researcher and graduate student in psychology at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, says reading is an ”intrinsically complex” skill, cautioning that even the best strategies often rely on in-person learning, and he and other experts say that students with dyslexia will be at a particular disadvantage.
